The ascension of The Tenth Emperor of Illianus, a cold and ruthless dictator by the name of Marzen, brought with it a dark age. For the first few years he was a good man, ruling justly and kindly as those before him, but after three years of stable rule he changed suddenly. Tecarnians, those recluse and peaceful people so like humans and yet very different, who used they ability to manipulate materials like metal and make it come alive, were suddenly and without warning made enemies of the empire. It was they who became the targets of them Emperors rule, they who were captured and imprisoned if they surrendered or annihilated if they resisted.
The irony in the law was that the Mecarnia, the metal men made to hunt down criminals and preserve the peace were now used to hunt down their creators. They who track down and capture Tecarnians both half-breeds and full bloods are called Hunters. These powerful Mecarnia’s are made of a material commonly known as Dark metal because it is black in colour. The metal however is also indestructible and resistant to all known forms of fire, cold and smelting. Only Tecarnians can forge the metal, liquefying it with their magic and shaping it to their liking. The metal however also possesses the unique ability to retain magic. It absorbs enchantments and holds them for immeasurable amounts of time.
There are however people among those of the Empire of Illianus who feel the Emperor has gone mad. These Rebels seek now to overthrow the Emperor and free the Tecarnians Imprisoned within the Dark Prison. A fortress made entirely of Dark metal and be-spelled to resist all Tecarnian magic. Those Rebels now hunt for a way to free the Tecarnians form their prison. Their hope lies in a man known as Marketan, one of the few free Tecarnians rumored to be alive.
The Rebels are led by a young man by the name of Whitelock, where he comes form and who he is even his reasons for hating the Emperor is greatly unknown, except that he knows of the location of Marketan and is willing to go to any length to stop the mad Emperor.

Playable Races: [/color]
Human: [/i]
Humans are the most versatile then other races; they can adapt well to their surroundings and situations. Some humans even posses the ability to use magic though it is not as strong as an Altirian’s. Humans are the only race capable of having children with both Altirian’s and Tecarnians thus resulting in half-breeds, although half-breed Tecarnians are VERY rare, almost non-existent.
Altirian: [/i]
These hauntingly beautiful people blessed with powerful magic and blessed with the wings of birds. These wings take on the peculiar characteristic of colour and an element depending on their personality and soul. Some wings look like fire, others like shadow and some are as beautiful as the rest of them. Others have dull wings and some just plain ugly to look at.
Despite their beauty and strength of magic and Altirian has a fragile bone structure that makes them poor close ranged fighters. They are however swift and dangerous when using their magic. Most have a high opinion of themselves.
Mecarnia: [/i]
This race is a race constructed by the Tecarnians, metal machines given life and the ability to think and decide for themselves. The Mecarnia come in many shapes sizes and types. (There are no full Dark-Metal Mecarnia’s except for the Hunters and Citadel [they aren’t playable])
Half-breed Human/Altirian: These half-breeds posses something of the Full-blooded beauty of the Altirian but the strength of a human. The side effect is however that a half-breed is not as fast nor as powerful in magic as a full-blood. A half-blood however can hold his or her own in a close combat fight.

Her hair is shoulder length white hair touched with a faint silver sheen, her eyes are a stunning silver-blue and her appearance is such that she has a touch of that haunting beauty seen in Full-blooded Altirian’s. Her wings which remain hidden all the time have not been seen by anyone except for four people in her life, three of which are Citadel, Marketan and her mother Azula. A scar much like a burn to flesh cans be found on the back of her neck, shoulder blade and upper arm on the right side. The scar is said to be from an accident she had while in the forge…
Gear has a habit of wearing the same cloths she uses when working in the workshop or the forge. It is a pair of faded olive-green bib overalls, heavy faded brown-black boots, heavy brown work gloves and a brown-black tweed cap that covers her ears and head and her tool belt which contains her smiting tools and such.

While Gear doesn’t use magic often she is capable of some very powerful spells. More often then not however she prefers to do things by hand.
Gears magic is primarily skill and healing based though she does posses an aptitude for enchanting and battle magic.

When Gear was only three she was brought to Marketan with her mother. Her mother subsequently died of a fever two years later. Raised by her ‘uncle’ Marketan and has lived in a very out-of-the-way town. With her constant companion a Dark Metal Mecarnia.
Other: Gear is skilled in unarmed combat making her both swift and dangerous even if she hates to fight or hurt others. Her companion Citadel resembles something of the Hunters
