Please read all of these rules and remember them well. Not knowing a rule, forgetting it, etcetera does not validate breaking one. You will receive consequences whether or not you were ignorant to a rule being broken.
1. Behave yourself. If you show any hostility toward anyone in any thread, the post will be deleted (and if you made a thread which has an hostile theme, then it will be deleted). You will receive a warning and if you continue to exhibit animosity, then you will be temporarily banned for an appropriately fitting time. Think of it as time to calm down and contemplate a good public attitude. If you have an issue with someone on the site, then talk in IM. Do NOT bring it onto the forum.
2. Angst is strongly discouraged from being shown in the forum. If you are feeling depressed and all, I'm sure someone here cares to hear and talk things over with you, but you don't need to tell us all and make everyone feel sad. Try to keep any sorrowful posts out of the boards. Threads and posts of this nature will most likely be deleted.
3. No crude material. Pornographic and excessively violent pictures and videos are prohibited. If you break this rule, the material will be deleted and you will receive a warning or go straight to a temporary ban.
4. Keep the majority of content to an R rating. Deeper sensuality and violence may be included in an RPG if you have blatant warning in the first post of the RPG that the following story may contain it. This also applies to stories, poems, song lyrics, general talk threads, and OOC threads corresponding more mature RPGs. If you break this rule, then staff will act accordingly, most likely warning you to add the notice into the post, giving you a period of time to add it, and if it is not added, then simply deleting the mature post. This is to prevent those that don't wish to see extreme behavior from unexpectedly having it presented to them.
5. Type legibly. Keep capitalization, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and overall literary showmanship at a good level. Things such as leet, net-speak, and overall not caring about how your writing looks is highly annoying to many people on the forum. I can edit posts, sure, but I don't like to edit other people's posts so try to get things right (at least enough to understand) the first time. I don't get paid for this stuff. So there's not much motivation there for me to edit what you couldn't type.
6. Avoid double posts. If you need to add more to something, then edit your previous post rather than making a new one. Double posts waste time and room, along with possibly making you seem a little more egotistical. This rule also applies to threads. Please check and make sure that a thread of the same subject has not already been made before you make a new thread. No severe consequences for double posts, but threads too similar will be deleted.
7. Keep things where they belong. Double check the board you're in before posting a thread. The moderating staff can move the thread, but as always, it is greatly preferred if you show some intelligence and put it in the right one in the first place.
8. An RPG's creator is it's leader. They are the first-in-line leader for making decisions about it. If you don't like what they decide, then too bad for you. Don't make a big deal about it or the staff may need to get involved. As such, an RPG's creator decides who can be in it.
8A. Everyone has a right to be in any public RPG, but if the creator of the RPG finds your behavior inappropriate, they have the right to boot you out. If you fail to comply to their request of you leaving, then you will be dealt with by a member of the moderating staff.
8B. The average RPG is public, but if a creator so wishes, they may make it limited, allowing only a certain number of people, or even private, allowing only certain people in particular to join. A limited RPG must contain (L) in the title and a private RPG must contain (P) in the title. I assume that you would tell those who are allowed into the RPG that they may join, so I won't elaborate more on that. If you join an RPG after the limit has been reached or without an invite, then your posts in the thread will be deleted (Although the staff is to ask the RPG's creator before deleting anything).
9. Relaying messages from banned users is prohibited. If someone banned wants someone to know something, they can try to tell them in IM. It will NOT appear on the forum or the post/thread will be deleted and the messenger will be dealt with by a member of the moderating staff. The severity of the punishment depends on the content of the material relayed.
10. I am the admin here and the moderators I choose to put on my staff are my decision. No one is chosen by favoritism and all those chosen are expected to do a good job just as I strive to do. If you have a problem with any of our decisions, you may tell them and/or myself via PM. Do not make a thread about it. Also, remember to respect the moderating team. We don't do this job just so we can have power. We do it for each and every member of the forum. If you receive punishment, it is for your good and the good of the others on the site. We hope you don't hold it against us, but I doubt many of us care too much if you are upset at us anyway. We aren't forcing you to be here. We just like you to be here as long as you obey all the rules. If you disrespect a member of the moderation staff, then it is his/her decision of how to deal with you. I may have some input, but in the end, I will respect whatever decision they make, as I hope everyone else does.
11. No godmodding. This means a couple of things. For one, you cannot control another person's character in an RP unless you have spoken with them and they have specifically stated that you may control their character for a post or however long they allow you to do so. The second thing is that because your character is not God, your character is not invincible, all powerful, or all knowing (hence the term "godmodding."). Show weakness in your character from time to time. For example: A ninja character in a story shouldn't just poof away in a cloud of smoke every time they are attacked and kill their opponent from behind immediately. Rather, you should be CREATIVE with your post and let your mind wander with what you could do. After all, RPing is creative writing, and creative writing should always be creative.
12. I can and will add any rule I wish to add at any time. I reserve the right to update and grow on these rules and if I do, then you should do well to read and remember those as well.
If you have any questions/comments about any of the rules, you may send me a PM with your thoughts in it. However, there is little to no chance that I will edit any of the current rules to a lesser state.
