I got a very interesting and out-of-the-norm character in mind. Just gotta work on a race right now. I'm thinking some subtle mix between human and animal, similar to a cat-person or if you could imagine, a half-breed involving the Khajiit in Elder Scrolls. But it'll be a new race I make up if that's alright with you, Mickenzy.

Ehh.... I kind of rather you didn't, to be honest. I was hoping to keep this with pretty standard races, you know?

Damn. Standard races are boring. D:
Alright, then. Whatever.

Aww... I was hoping to make a lizard assassin...
*Lizardman digs his axe in the ground*
Well, that kind of ruins all hope for me joining this then, unfortunately... =(

Uh, yeah. Come to think of it, could we actually get a complete list of what exactly the "standard races" are considered? Cause if things from Elder Scrolls are excluded then I'm at a loss here. o.o

Well, you know humans, orcs, dwarves, and elves are safe. Go with one of those. o.O The races you guys want to play now won't show up on the list, so be proactive. EDIT: 4 races from Elder Scrolls EDIT2: Actually, those races are about the extent of Elder Scrolls, if you count the Half-Elves, Snow Elves, Imperials, etc etc.

Ya, I was just talking to Mick really quickly, and she told me about this, and I asked about Elder Scrolls too. LOL So you guys aren't alone!
Seems to me, though, that she wants like...erm... D&D standard, with maybe a little leeway, but not too much. If only because it can get messy when you start dealing with races made up. I've TRIED to tell her that we're a pretty tight-knit group here, but she and I have been roleplaying elsewhere on a MUCH larger member-group, full of many hundreds of times more silly newbs and ridiculous godmodders, and so she's kinda got this "anti-n00b" mentality built in. LOL Hell, so do I, now. You get to be REALLY cautious about your rules after the 5th or 6th time someone dumb enough to be unable to read them breaks them.
As such, consider "standard" kinda like Matt said, but minus some things. No kahjiit, no lizardmen (sorry! LOL), no...umm...other things like that. LOL Elves are good. Humans are good. Dwarves are good. Halflings are probably ok. I doubt she'll object to a gnome, or a dark elf (like Nishy, kinda), or half breeds, if they're reasonable. I'm sure you guys are reasonable. LOL I'm also hoping that no one just got the idea of a half-gnome half-dark elf raised by dwarves in a human castle. Because that's TOTALLY my idea, damn it.
Orcs, I'm not so sure about. We're supposed to be the outcasts, and/or neutrals, of society. Take your pick. Orcs, or orc-kind, would be more like...the enemy of normal society. You know? In most stories, orcs and goblins and such play enemy fodder. And they're usually very stupid and brutish, except for some species. Have you ever tried to play a stupid character? LOL I tried once, in an RP run by Vahalior I think, and it did die anyways...but it's hard. Maybe if you had a good backstory, you could integrate in an orc or something. If you wanted to try it, and I wouldn't blame you. But see... final decisions for something borderline goes to Mick. So. Ask her. :-)

in Neverwinter Nights which is a D'n'D style game you can play half-orcs, not all of them are dumb either though a few do have speech problems lol.

I've never liked D&D. Even while attempting to start on Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II last night, I was insanely disappointed in the fact there were only humans, dark elves, elves, and a dwarf. I've never liked elves, dark elves rub me the wrong way, and I hate dwarves to the point of wanting to set them all on fire (as well as any similar races like halflings). Don't get me started on orcs. Their deaths are much bloodier. Then there's humans... which I find rather boring no matter how you dress them up when it comes to fantasy RP (but oddly enough, nowhere else). I've always been a fan of the more creative and original things like the Khajiit and Argonians. Narrowing the races down to the average D&D basics really puts a huge creative barrier on me. That said, I'll still read and enjoy Destiny's Bid, but I think I'll wait to join a fantasy RP until later. Perhaps when I eventually rewrite that Darc RP.

That's fine, I'm not pressuring anyone to join if they don't want to.
Yeah, I would probably allow half-orcs and whatnot... though it would be interesting to see how one would fit into the story lol. I'm holding off on posting again until Sonic posts, hopefully.... they seemed eager about it...

Ok little update:
I'm kind of hoping Sonic is able to post this weekend, that's pretty much what I've been waiting on. This story isn't going to fly with only two real players, so I'm hoping Sonic still plans to join to make at least three, which would be workable... not optimal, but workable.
When/if that happens, things will start to move forward.
