Are you tired of modern settings and science fiction overtones? Are you lacking your recommended daily dose of High Fantasy? Do you wear elf ears and prance around in gaily-colored shoes and festive blouses?
If you answered yes to the first two, then we've got a deal for you!
If you answered yes to the last question, please seek help immediately.
It's called Destiny's Bid. Or will be, if all goes according to plan. I won't claim that it's going to be COMPLETELY open-ended, because we are all veterans enough to know that "completely open-ended" usually makes for a very sloppy, unfocused story. No sir, we won't have that here! However, the level of character interaction is going to be something new, something fun, and hopefully something amazing.
Imagine, if you will, a land fraught with divisions. Two factions, both powerful in their own right, vie for dominion over a world of diverse and plentiful people. The High races are here, and there will be only a few regulations on choosing one. Please, no demons, angels, vampires, werewolves, or things like that. We'll try to stick to a fairly normalized definition of High Fantasy. Think Dungeons and Dragons', or Forgotten Realms', standard races. Your character will be above the petty squabblings of the factions, but the tide of conflict has swept you up. Now you face a quest, a road ahead, and a choice.
And that is where this roleplay differs from the norm. There is no restriction on what you choose. You can pick a side, or you can avoid it. You can make friends or enemies. The factions will be NPCd, but you will be persuaded, possibly even coerced, throughout the roleplay. And there is no set outcome. There are multiple endings, if we ever make it that far, and even those are just a small amount of the possible outcomes that your choices make. The plot, what you know in the beginning, always thickens; I'm sure we all knew that anyways. What's different about this is that, without being completely freeform, there will be a lot of oppurtunity for the plot to thicken through YOU, the player, as well.
All we need now is a "yes" or a "no". This is Mickenzy's thread, and I've written this up for her so she can work on the ideas. But if this doesn't interest the board as a whole, she won't make it available right away. This is in the Ideas forum because it IS an Idea for now. When we all decide that it sounds like a good idea, then she'll make it work. If now is not the time, that's good to know too. So...What do you think?
