Throw in any and all tidbits and ideas for new stories, poems, songs, or RPs (or anything else) here. Then we can all comment and discuss them. Some ideas can grow into something bigger or take on more of a form in the first place. Others may merge together into something new and great.

For years now I've always toyed with ideas of steampunky airship pirates. I think that I would like to get a RP going about this, but somehow I haven't been able to come up with a satisfactory plot in all this time. What to do, what to do....

Y'know.... steampunk. Don't tell me you have not heard this word!
Steampunk is part fantasy and part alternate history. You take the Victorian era... and then you sort of overdevelop the steam technology. So there's not only trains, but steampowered airships, steampowered cars, etc etc. Stuff they didn't actually have in the Victorian era, but stuff that we might have now if we'd stuck with steampower and not moved on to electricity and such. Sometimes you can mix in magic and fantasy races and such too if you want.
Some examples of steampunk in movies: Stardust, Howl's Moving Castle, Steamboy, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen...

Yes yes, the book is good too, although pretty different from the movie hehe. Have you read the sequel too?
Anyway, I need to sit down and try to come up with a plot for this sort of thing. Maybe I'll try and think of some ideas today while I do whatever hehe. If I think of anything I'll post it here.... if you have any ideas, please share!

Steampunk is always a cool bit of fantasy. There's a few (probably more than a few) Miyazaki films that use steampunk, including that Howl's Moving Castle you mentioned. Trigun took the idea and twisted it somewhat too, only having some things based on steampunk (like those big transport things. Sandcrawlers or something like that, I think they were called). I think I remember Metropolis, another anime movie having steampunk influences also. Like I said, tis a cool thing. And hey, if we're throwing in airships and sky pirates, then I'm game. I've been interested in that since seeing Balthier in FFXII. Speaking of which, I still need to play Rogue Galaxy, a highly acclaimed and recommended RPG from many people (including Sonic) plus it's made by one of my favorite developers, Level 5. I'm surprised I haven't played it yet.

But back on topic, I'm game if you can either come up with something you're happy with for a general plot thought, or if you feel like just winging it. I've done RPs like that before where I just have an idea of where it'll end up or maybe just a couple key points I plan to use, while letting everyone else move the story along however they choose. Case in point, that Darc RP I still plan to resurrect sometime this or next year. I, myself, know very little about the full plot for that one. :B

I'm still thinking lol.. yesterday turned up one idea I might be able to use somehow, but it needs more meat. I'll keep working on it. I don't mind winging things, but I like to have at least something to throw out there for people to work off of, first.

Keeping with the original thread idea, I'll resurrect this thread for this post rather than making a new one with which to clutter the board.
Just to let people know, while I am very excited to be joining Jess' new RP, I am at the same time working on a new fantasy-themed RP of my own rather heavily. It's a combination of one of my more recent ideas with one of my old ideas (If "The Darc" rings any bells, that's the one). I've got a big world, I'd say with 5 different intelligent races and it's own original sport (think of how big "Blitzball" was in Final Fantasy X and you get the idea about how this one is). I have a very loose underlying plot that I'll sprinkle in slowly once in a while, but 99% of the story is RP-participant driven. I'm very interested to see what you guys do with it once you get into the world. And please don't be afraid to "fuck anything up." I need some good story stuff out of you guys not only for the sake of the RP but also because I hope to turn this into a big solo piece that'll also include what you guys do.
p.s.- I have veeeery little else to do for the RP to be "ready to launch" so to speak. After working on it tonight and last night, I think the only thing I have left to do is remember all the rules/come up with new rules for the original sport (called "Homball" before. Not sure if I care to change the name or not. Feel free to give me your two cents if you have an opinion). I'll work on that tomorrow night and then probably post it. I would reeeeally like to see more people than just me and Jess posting so far on the forum though... *sounds just oh so hopeful* :3

Okay, so I finished all the details about the sport, which if anyone's wondering, I felt important enough to flesh out because you can do quite a bit more in a story, I think, if you know what's popular and even important to a good number of people. Besides, for all I know someone might want to join as a player of the game or something. By the way, the new name for it is Brozai. As stupid as this sounds, I go about things so oddly that it took me over an hour to come up with that little name. Long story made short, it's an anagram of the Romanian word for "war." Yes, I'm weird. I know this.
I'm thinking tonight after work (when I have more time) I'm going to type out as much about the world as I can in an official "OOC" thread and start getting writing on something for the RP section for it, as well as a starting post for my character in Jess' Knights of Balrenia RP to try and get both those balls rolling in some sort of way.
*Puts on a Phil Sebben's voice* Haha! Multi-ball.
